Stickman Puzzle Boxes

I thought I should write a little about the wonderful Stickman Puzzle Boxes that are crafted by Robert Yarger.  His work is really fantastic both in design and craftsmanship.  I've been fortunate enough to collaborate with him on a couple of his projects, The Chopsticks Puzzlebox and The Domino Puzzlebox, I even went so far as to knock off a few Snowflake Puzzleboxes!
Acquiring his boxes is as easy as visiting his site and contacting him to be added to his list, be sure to visit his website!  Stickman Puzzlebox

Pinch an Inch by Snake

When Snake first mentioned his new series of puzzle boxes I simply couldn't pass it up, here's Kelly's description:

"Pinch an Inch is a challenging '3 moves to open' puzzle box made from 2.5 vintage hardwood yardsticks.
This design is the first of 10 proposed upcoming designs that use yardsticks as the base medium. Due to the rarity and cost of the yardsticks, there will be only one unit per design built. This small collection of puzzles is for the discerning collector that appreciates the unusual and fantastic. The 10 designs will be made over a period of 24 months.
The yardstick itself is all about measuring, ...and in turn it gets me to pondering, ...'what is the measure of a man'? When I first came onto the puzzle scene, Robert Yarger gladly shared his worldy wisdom with me, helping me sort out the ins and outs of design as well as this diverse group of builders and collectors. In keeping with my beliefs about paying respect to those that are ones teachers in life, in kind I look to repay my appreciation by donating 20% of the final sale of each piece to Roberts gofundme page. As an artist I am only too happy to invest in his continued creations."

Dimensions: 3 1/8" wide by 5 3/4" long by 4 3/4" high.

Comes with a full colour and signed solution sheet.

1/1 in a series of 1

InSoma by Brian Young

This puzzle is the newer version of the original design by Brian Crafted from Rose Alder with the Soma Cube in Queensland Silver Ash.

This obviously combines two classic puzzles into one with a diagonal Burr surrounding a Soma Cube puzzle!

Here's the description from Mr.Puzzle:

"We've now given the original version of the Insoma a facelift and pointed it differently to end up with this Rhombic Dodecahedron shape. The pieces were originally cut in 2003, so the wood will be very well seasoned now to make a very stable puzzle. The puzzle was last in stock in 2007 so its taken us a while to get back to finishing them but Brian is very happy with the results of this batch.
Two of the most popular puzzles ever made and sold in the world have been used to make this unique puzzle. The puzzle is to assemble both the Soma Cube and the six piece diagonal burr at the same time.
To do this you will need to find just one of the 240 different assemblies of the Soma Cube. Why? In this puzzle the Soma Cube has a unique solution. One piece of Soma Cube is attached to one of each of the pieces of the diagonal burr. When you assemble the burr you will need to assemble the Soma Cube inside it at the same time. Don't forget you also need to fit the loose seventh piece of the Soma Cube in as well.....
The concept of putting the two puzzles together came to Brian after seeing a puzzle by Phillipe Dubois made with a single cube loose inside it..
Size: The diameter of the Rhombic Dodecahedron is 100mm

Caged Knot - Tom Jolly by Pelikan

I recently acquired this puzzle and have to admit that it surprised me with its intricate movements.  Tom says it's his favourite design!

This puzzle was Tom's IPP Design Competition entry in 2005.

Crafted by Pelikan with Padauk for the cage and Maple and Wenge for the pieces, it's a difficult puzzle (Level 13) to take apart but very difficult to put back together!

Please visir Puzzlewood to see what Bernhard has available!

Spoiler Alert:

Tom Lensch Puzzles

I can't imagine any puzzle collector who doesn't have one of Tom's beautifully crafted puzzles in their collection.  His work really is the 'Gold standard' for puzzlemaking!

This video is from 2011 so it's a bit dated but does show some of Tom's work in the background as well as his collection of Hayanama puzzles.

I occasionally I have some of Tom's puzzles available at Puzzle Paradise but they sell out so quickly that it's probably best that you contact me directly at my email so that I can let you know when I have some in hand.

Framed by Jack Krijnen

There is a great interview with Jack published on SiamMandalay, check it out!

I acquired this awesome puzzle directly from Jack and this is what he had to say about it:

"I designed this puzzle in 2013. It was the first 18-piece burr with a cage.

The burr can be (dis)assembled inside or outside the cage.

Uncaged the level is a modest 3.1.1.2.

For the caged version the first 3 pieces are also released with subsequently 3 , 1 and 1 moves.

But beware! It's only to put you to sleep.

The next piece, with 12 moves to do, is far from simple!

I made the burr from oak and used mahogany for the cage."
