I recently made copies of this #18 design by Stewart along with #18-A but never did blog about it. I just finished up a personal copy and thought I should now blog about it.
Back in the 1970 Stewart’s daughter Abbie had come up with this puzzle by gluing up random pieces, of course Stewart finalized the design in an attempt to market it but ended up becoming one of his earliest packing designs that I really enjoy.
This particular copy was made using 3/4” Maple cubes with Walnut, Tigerwood and Holly Tray. The presentation Box was made from Roasted Bird’s Eye Maple, Zebrawood and Wenge.
