This is a puzzle that I was very surprised Eric decided to make as the case assembly is not something he typically did. I’m happy to have received a copy after all these years.
Here’s Eric’s description from CubicDissection:
“I've been sitting on this design for quite a while now, waiting until I had the time to make it. I really liked the meta aspect of a set of pentominos hiding inside a larger set, but I knew it would be an undertaking to craft. The frame and pieces were very time consuming, with shouldered joinery, through milling on the connector pieces, and every edge beveled on the smaller pentomino set. This puzzle was simply a lot of work, I knew I'd have to undercharge for it, but I'm glad I made it anyway.
It was worth it though. Solving this puzzle is an achievement, with only six unoccupied voxels within the cage. While there are about 2500 solutions, finding one is very difficult. Furthermore, high level solutions are possible, maxing out at 7.3.6. moves (which is the configuration the puzzle is shipped in).
Construction of this puzzle is outstanding. Fit is right on, not too loose or tight.
Only 32 copies made for sale, each signed and dated.”
