Little Kenny - Ken Irvine by Wood Wonders

I recently acquired this puzzle and it’s very nicely crafted by Brian adding pins at key joints for strength.

Well what can I say, this puzzle absolutely defies logic!  Not only did it stump me but even after having seen the solution (kindly supplied by Ken) it still did not compute!  You can easily see how and where the four pieces are supposed to go together but nothing seemed to work, what an amazing puzzle!

Ken has designed a lot of puzzles while this one and its sibling ‘Little Bruce’ probably spurred on the TIC (Turning Interlocking Cube) craze!  If you’re a fan of this type of puzzle these two should be at the top of your list.

Allard has a great write up on his blog.

Here's what Brian said:  Please visit Wood Wonders to stay informed of his wonderful puzzles!

“Another of Ken Irvine's clever designs is this Rotational Cube (well not really a cube) The 3x4x4 Puzzle has a rather difficult to discover assembly. Not many moves but still a good challenge I think. I spent several evenings trying to put my copy together before I was forced to break down and ask Ken for the solution so that could get back to making them! Made from exotic hardwoods including Bolivian Rosewood, Maple, Paduak, Movingui and Maple.”
