Scrap Pack Puzzle Chest by BAZ

This is another acquisition from the Puzzle Discord where BAZ keeps folks updated on his puzzling pursuits.  This one comes with a nice box that can be laser engraved which is a nice touch.  Solving took me a considerable amount of time, well over an hour so if you’re up for a challenge, I highly recommend grabbing one of these from Jeff!

In case you’re interested in creating your own puzzles, BAZ is in the process of supplying wood cubies of varying voxel lengths, to suit almost any kind of puzzle build.

Be sure to visit his Etsy Shop to see all that he has available, the quality of his work is outstanding.  Here’s what he said about this puzzle:

“The scrap pack packing puzzle and box chest is my first simple puzzle design of 2021. I have loved woodworking since making puzzles professionally and learned the ropes as an apprentice for many years. Most of my chopsticks were made from the scraps of the puzzle production process, but I have always enjoyed Tetris inspired, volumetric packing puzzles since I was a kid and enjoy making them to stump family and friends.

This packing puzzle is a culmination of 9 pieces and made from reclaimed woods from my workshop; some exotic, some common, but all of it would have been destined to the scrap pile. The pieces create a 2x4x7 unit rectangle shape to fit into the box. The wooden box is made from reclaimed 2x4's that I used for event booth builds pre-pandemic and used leftover jewelry hinge and latches again from other projects. The puzzle is about 3.5 x 2.5 x 1.5 inches. I have designed the puzzle to give new life to the "less than perfect" pieces from other projects to make something beautiful, unique and fun!

Add a zest of personalization on the lid free! Make a unique cool puzzle gift with that extra touch.

Some pieces may vary in wood species but most will include the following:

Bocote, Zebrawood, Ambrosia Maple, Hard Maple, Cherry, Wenge, Spruce, Pine, Oak, Ash.

The pieces are finished with matte lacquer.

The box is unfinished pine.”
